Ms. Courtney
Courtney's teaching career began in 1998 as an English and reading teacher in Indiana, and the classroom has felt like home ever since.

Education
She earned her Bachelor's in English Education from Indiana State University, followed by a Master's in K-12 Reading Education from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2003. WISE Up is her passion project and the truest expression of her zone of genius.
Courtney doesn't just teach. She personalizes. She takes the time to truly know each child, and before long, your kids feel like her own. As a mom of eight, her approach to education is anything but one-size-fits-all. She homeschooled her eldest through high school where he also dual-enrolled at the local college. She currently has one child in college, one in technical college, and the youngest ones (spanning elementary, middle, and high school) are still learning and discovering their perfect paths.
She values every road beyond high school, helping each family discover the path that fits them. When she's not with the WISE Up community, you'll find her reading, traveling, or spending time with her kids.
Ms. Gabriela
Born and raised in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Gabriela brings a rich international perspective to every student who walks through the WISE Up door.

Her education unfolded almost entirely in Mexico, culminating in a B.S. in Marketing and Business Administration (with honors) from Universidad Panamericana, followed by a Master's in Teaching English Learners from the American College of Education.
She began teaching in 1998, working across private and public schools. In 2013 she made the leap into homeschooling her own children, the decision that ultimately gave birth to WISE Up. All four of her children are fully bilingual, and her two oldest have finished college: living proof the approach works.

Ms. Melinda
A rare combination of academic excellence, real-world expertise, and deep personal investment in education that is hard to find anywhere.
A 2004 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, she went on to serve 21 distinguished years in the U.S. Coast Guard as an engineer and emergency manager, retiring in 2025.
She also holds certification in Math through Miami Dade College's Educator Preparation Institute, so she knows how to make rigorous content accessible and help students build confident, systematic thinking.
And perhaps most telling: Ms. Melinda is a homeschooling mom of eight. She doesn't just understand the homeschool journey professionally, she lives it every day. We are proud to have her at WISE Up.
